This ongoing project first began in 2016 during a residency at La Cité internationale des Arts, Paris. My investigations during this time looked at how a simple pattern can have various symbolic connotations. Within french culture, the vichy (gingham) pattern is often a reminder of the Vichy regime from WWII.
